Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school after her parents split up to move into Los Angeles to live with her mother. She was struggling to make ends meet and was offered her first acting role as Rachel's Room's lead character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the lead actor in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace wanted to focus on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role as Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season that aired between 2013 and the year 2014. She is Faith as a girl who serves as a model for celebrities and attracts the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). As a part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the younger sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens She appeared in small roles in her father's movies and she co-starred alongside her twin brother on Donnie Darko the popular cult movie. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy Secretary (2002) and in the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her the Golden Globe Award nomination. In 2006, she appeared in several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a mother who is not married of Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years she was a part of comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
