Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. At the age of five, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware she was going to become an actress and for several years, she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied performing and singing. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for first time in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It was the year's top earning film, smashing records at the opening and first weekend. Critics have praised both the film and the performance of the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the Feature Film.
